Texas Home Living (TxHmL)
The Texas Home Living program (TxHmL) program at Ability Connection (AC) provides help and support to individuals of all ages with an intellectual disability or related condition. Our TxHmL team works with each individual to ensure they receive community living, professional and technical support so they can continue to live with their families or in their own home.
The Texas Home Living (TxHmL) program is overseen by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS). To be eligible for the TxHmL program, individuals must have a diagnosis of an intellectual disability (or related condition) and qualify for Medicaid. Eligibility guidelines are available on the DADS website:

Enrollment for the TxHmL program is overseen by the Local Authority (LA). To find the LA in your county, please visit:

(enter your county then scroll down to see your LA listing).
Currently, there is a list for TxHmL services. If you are on the list for Home and Community Based Services (HCS) you are automatically placed on the TxHmL list. If you aren’t currently on the interest list, please contact your LA. Contact information is above.
